Birthday nails! What WHAT!?
Okay. The picture was taken with my phone. It was grey and cloudy outside. It's not an epic picture, I know. But the colors are pretty true-to-life and that's what I was most worried about.
Monday was my birthday. 29, yo! But like I told the husband last night, I will celebrate every day like it's my birthday until I feel like I got enough celebration in. And I have not hit that point yet. So, IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! YAAAY!
Nails. That's my first real attempt at any sort of nail art. And my cuticles are depressed. But the colors make my happy. Here's what I did:
Wet 'N' Wild French White Creme - 2 coats all nails (to cover the acrylic color under there), 3 coats accent nail
Digital Nails So Disco - 2 coats on all except accent
Ulta Pinata Yada Yada - 1 coat on all except accent
Color Club Factory Girl - cupcake base
Finger Paints Gallery Glam - cupcake base "stripes"
L.A. Colors Candy Sprinkles - cupcake frosting
Finger Paints Romanticism Ruby - cherry
Stripe Rite Black - cherry stem
China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat - 1 coat all nails
So Disco is AMAZING. It was so easy to apply, the formula is a dream, and it took 2 coats to be completely opaque. The picture really is pretty true as far as colors go, it's way more purple than the swatches in her store but I am still head-over-heels for it.
Pinata Yada Yada is my first Ulta (shout out to the greatest little sister EVER for this! thanks love!) and it's supremely pretty as well. This was one coat, it gave me so much glitter and that makes me incredibly happy!
The cupcake... meh. I like it but I don't love it. And I know what I'll do differently next time. But do I feel pretty good about my first real attempt at nail art? SHIT YES I DO.
But guys? Girls? Friends? Let's go with friends. I need to know what white you use. This Wet 'N' Wild is not horrible, but it did take a full, thick, three coats to be even and opaque. And it's a little bit goopy after three coats. So tell me: what do you use as a go-to white? Also, topcoat? I've got Seche Vite which is great for one color but I am afraid of shrinkage with nail art. I used China Glaze Fast Forward on this mani and it was good but it's definitely not thick enough for a glitter topper. So, indulge me and help me in my quest for all things good!
