Super skittles! (aka USE ALL THE UNTRIEDS!)

Okay, first I need to apologize that the pictures are wonky. My phone updated and now it's all sorts of crazy and I literally took 25 pictures and these were the best, so just cut me a little slack okay? Also, I win at run-on sentences.

These are really outrageous nonsensical skittles nails. Otherwise known as, I'm getting my acrylic done today but I really wanted to paint my nails last night so USE ALL THE UNTRIEDS. (I used 17 of them, if you were wondering.)

Nerd Lacquer. Need I say more?

Once upon a time there was a company named Nerd Lacquer. Nerd Lacquer brought beauty to the land, but lo and behold, was incredibly hard to get your hands on for a good number of reasons.

Enter: random stock update. A friend posted about it on Facebook, and although I was positive it would all be sold out, I clicked.

OHMIGOD OHMIGOD OHMIGOD there are polishes! THE ONES I WANT! WHAAAAATTTTT it's a Christmas miracle!

Cue total freakout.

This beauty I'm featuring today is called Cyance Friction and has been on my wishlist since I first saw it eons ago. However, I'm a cheap ass and refuse to pay the crazy prices people ask, so it really was a miracle I was able to get my hands on it during that random secret restock.

Did it live up to its hype? Yes and no. Guys, it's just a polish. A very pretty polish, but a polish nonetheless. Is it worth losing your mind over? Meh.

Don't get me wrong. I love the color and the formula was decent. I will absolutely agree that Nerd Lacquer was among the first of the indies and helped pave the way for so many of us to now dive into polish making. But. BUTTTT. I've definitely used better. And, I've had this since December and all three of the colors I ordered are already separating. Not a good sign, eh?

The pictures show two coats of Cyance Friction topped with two coats of HK Girl. CF went on smooth and covered well. It's a gorgeous turquoise base with glitters in gold and turquoise, and an intense purple shimmer. All of the glitters seem to be curling just a tiny bit, but nothing terribly bad.

Am I glad I got in on what may possibly be the last Nerd Lacquer restock ever? (How many times has that been the case?) Yes. Will I buy from them again? Probably not. Between her disappearing all the time without any explanation, issues people have had with their polishes either never showing up or coming without brushes or whatever, ordering this time was a total gamble. I'm glad it paid off, but it's a gamble I won't take again.

Here I am trying to find her shop to link to, and guys, it's gone. Her G+ is still there, with absolutely no contact attempt since early December. But no shop. I think she's gone for real this time.

Do you have any thoughts on the Nerd Lacquer debacle? Spill your guts.

Friday! AND 1000 POSTS!

GUYS! Today is post number 1,000 for me and this ridiculous little blog! HOLY SHIT!!!!

Kay. Freakout over.

I've been blogging for just over 5 years, and that's crazy to me. I don't know how it's been this long or I've rambled that much. Do you agree? You probably do.

Today I am sharing my last Valentine mani. (Finally. I know.) Check it out below. And also, you'll want to stop by Monday... Something awesome will be happening. That's all I am at liberty to say.

Taken with my S3 in crappy indoor lighting
[heartbeats]
Zoya - Storm x2 coats
Rimmel - Stand to Attention x1 coat
Wet N Wild - French White Creme x2 coats
Glisten & Glow - HK Girl x1 coat

Zoya | Rimmel | Wet N Wild | Glisten & Glow

I used the polish brush for the heart, and a nail art brush for the heart beat. I want to revisit these when I'm better with the nail art brushes, and I want to do it with a real heartbeat rhythm. Geeky awesomeness. (Also, I know my skin looks all sorts of crazy but the polish color shows true, and that's what counts, yeah?)

Happy Friday, my darlings! I'm in a great mood because we got our tax return yesterday. And I got new pants. I love new pants. I also got new socks. I LOVE NEW SOCKS! And I might have purchased some polish today. And I won a really awesome giveaway with a splendid limited edition polish earlier this week. AND IT'S 55ºF OUTSIDE! And my bottles for Firecracker Lacquer came, so I can start getting things out to my alpha testers. All in all it's been an excellent week for me. It's about fucking time.

AND! I got Disqus installed for my comments, so I hope you like it. I really like it a lot more than the stock Blogger comments, but let me know your feels.

How is your Friday?

Sweet Heart Polish's Superfine collection!

**The polishes mentioned in this post were provided to me at no cost by Sweet Heart Polish to facilitate my review. All opinions and pictures are my own.

We've talked about Sweet Heart Polish before, dollfaces. Go check out her Halloween polishes! They are amazing. Well, I was lucky enough to be chosen to review for her again, and am I ever thankful, because the polishes I got are outrageously amazing. I can't even portray in words just how gorgeous they are. These are all from the Superfine collection, which are made up of fine glitters in various colors. They are also named after a few super fine fellas!

Walk with me, dear reader; let's get to know Superfine!

Reader, meet Luke. Luke is a gorgeous green micro glitter with a good amount of holo glitter mixed in as well. He's also a country-singing hottie. It was impossible to capture the full beauty of this polish! I cannot wait to pair this up with a deep red for Christmas nails.

Above you see two coats of Luke over Finger Paints Sketch N Etch, with an accent nail of three coats of Luke with no undies (bow chicka bow wow!), topped with one coat of HK Girl. Application on this was perfect. It went on as smooth as a creme, no joke.

This perfect polish is David. David is a micro blue glitter with a fantastic smear of holo mixed in. (David is also a soccer great, or a favorite Doctor, or in my case, a smexy not-quite-vampire.) This polish really rocks my boat. I might have taken a million pictures of it, and then after taking pictures, stood there smiling like an idiot while I watched it flash in the light. Ask the kids in the parking lot behind my house; they'll vouch.

Above pictures show two coats of David over Julep Marisa, with an accent nail of three coats of David with no undies (mmmmmmmmyes), all topped with one coat of HK Girl. Again, the formula on this is flawless. It goes on so smooth, you'd never expect it to have this much dazzle.

The final polish, my surprising favorite of the three, is Adam. Adam is a psychotically pretty purple micro glitter with enough holo to push me over the edge. (Adam is also a deliciously tattooed singer.) I did not expect the purple to be my favorite, but look at it! REALLY LOOK AT IT! Holy holo, Batman. This thing is phenomenal. I feel like if you were to smash a fairy and take the remains and put them in a polish bottle, this is what you would be left with. It's so incredible!

Above shows two coats of Adam over Julep Morgan, with an accent nail of three coats of Adam with no undies (the way it should be WHAT?), all topped with one coat of HK Girl. As with the other two, the formula was perfection. Smooth and easy with a quick dry time.

What do you think? I am head over heels for all of these. Infatuated. Lusting after. I cannot get enough. I definitely think I need to pick up the rest of them so I can round out my collection of Superfine. I mean, when is a full shelf of Superfine ever enough? Never, I say.

Monday's mani: kisses!

Stamping started out a really rough concept for me. It definitely does not come easy, but once you get it to work the first time, it's engrained in you and then you fall in love with it. At least, that was my experience.

Check out another one of my valentine manis, including some stamping!

LynBDesigns - Nightmare Revisited x2 coats
stamps Wet N Wild - French White Creme & Color Club - Modern Pink
Glisten & Glow - HK Girl x1 coat

Nightmare Revisited is a brilliant color. I have a pretty big crush on it, actually. Holo + bright pink is my jaaaam right now. It was incredibly easy to work with and went opaque in two smooth coats. I can't say enough good things about it, really. Plus, if you keep an eye out, LynBDesigns runs sales pretty frequently so you could pick it up for a good deal. She's got some really great colors other than this one as well.

How was your weekend? Mine was filled with good things. I got to go to a 1st birthday party for one of my favorite little boys and I have some incredibly cute pictures I took. I'll share if it's okay with his mom.

Random Sunday updates.

Hello dollfaces!

First off, if you're here from The Mercurial Magpie, HIIIIIIiiii! Welcome to my strange little corner of the internet. Things are odd here, but I hope you'll stick around and play.

If you're here because you've already decided to stick around, I'm being featured on the amazing Mercurial Magpie's blog! Aww, love it. She is amazing, so if you like nails and really fluffy dogs, go see her.

And, I finally gave in and set up a Facebook page for the blog. It's right here. You can like it if you want. That'd be cool.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by and I love you all. Now I'm off to do laundry. :\

Fridays are for photos.

I'm tired. I'm incredibly ready for this week to be over. It's been a fucking rough week. I have to do taxes tomorrow. So, here are some pictures. I will try to come back with something related to a real post in the near future.

It's cool, dude. I don't need my feet for anything.

I got this scale for my polish making and I want to weigh all the things!

Rachel is such a good friend, she sent me a box STUFFED with all of this. I died four times going through this box.

Kitteh has the right idea on Saturday mornings.

These are February's new babies. The last time I said that they were really January's new babies. I have so many, I forget.

This is how I feel about today. And daylight savings.

New colors from Model City Polish!

**I was sent the polishes in this post free of charge to facilitate my review. All opinions, pictures, and ramblings are my own.

Model City Polish. You already know my love for the brand, but did you also know they are releasing new colors this coming Saturday, the 22nd? Well, they are. A line full of Spring colors and a line devoted to Resident Evil, plus an extra color that's just badass. Are you ready to see them? Well, ARE YOU?!

Look at these pretty babies! Gah, I love glitter.

Shown is one coat of Breath of Spring over two coats of Chinchilly from Essie, topped with one coat of HK Girl.

Breath of Spring is a crazy pretty glitter topper, filled with purple, pink, and light blue holo hexes and squares, small pink and purple circles, and a smattering of holo pigment to round it out. I absolutely adore the color combination in this! That's one coat of this baby, as it came out of the bottle. No dabbing or placing glitters AT. ALL. The formula is smooth and easily manageable. I am enamored with this!

Shown is one coat of Punk Rock Princess over three coats of Lilypad Lacquer's Lime, topped with two coats of HK Girl.

Punk Rock Princess is a rocking glitter topper, jam packed with hot pink stars and squares, black holo stars and big and tiny hexes, and big and tiny silver holo hexes. MCP posted a sneak peek of this one awhile back and I instantly fell in love with it; it's got everything I ever needed in a glitter topper! Because of the amount of glitter, it's fairly thick, so you'll want to make sure to clean off your brush before applying if you don't want a ton of glitter. I, however, love ALL THE GLITTER, so how my nails look is one thick coat of it. This glitter topper is a thirsty one, so you'll want to go thick on the topcoat to avoid star tips sticking through.

With every new polish from MCP I own, I love the brand a little more. I'm continually impressed with not only the quality of the polish but also the customer service. Nina, the genius behind MCP, is totally devoted to her customers. She is incredibly friendly, and her turnaround time is beyond belief. If you haven't tried Model City Polish, I would wholeheartedly recommend you place an order as soon as you can, and tell Nina I sent you!

Also, check out my friend Courtney's review; she got some of the Resident Evil colors and they are spectacular!

Mondays are for manis! Right?

I browse Reddit a bit, and have a polish group over there that I frequent (PolishGauntlet, if you were wondering). They do themes each week, and sometimes I can't NOT participate. The mani below was for CAT WEEK! Um, yes, I obviously had to do that. And true to my cat lady core, they were for Turbo. See:

Photo taken with my S3 in indoors lighting.
[a mani for Turbo]
Rimmel - Stand to Attention x2 coats [base]
Zoya - Ziv x 1 coat [base/spots]
Rimmel - Hot Black To Go x 1 coat [spots/cat]
China Glaze - Winter Holly x1 coat [eyes]
Color Club - Modern Pink x1 coat [ears/nose]
Glisten & Glow - HK Girl x1 coat

I did all of the art with a dotting tool. That cat isn't the greatest, but you can tell what it is, right? RIGHT?!

For as cheap as the Rimmel polishes are, I'm fairly impressed with their drying time and opacity.

What's on your nails right meow?
